Alex braces for new CPF

ALEXANDRA – A date will be announced soon for the CPF elections.

The Alex Community Policing Forum, which was disbanded late last year, will be replaced by new executive members on an election date to be announced soon. The process has been set in motion by the recent election of 19 members each, to its four subforums.

The forum’s executive members are;

Sector One

Chairperson: Obed Makondo

Deputy chairperson: Blessing Gina

Secretary: Nomawethu Cokile

Deputy secretary: Lettie Madubanya

Sector Two

Chairperson: Paul Moloka

Deputy chairperson: Vincent Zwane

Secretary: Joseph Monyai

Deputy secretary: Nomoya Twala

Sector Three

Chairperson: Sibongile Nkabinde

Deputy chairperson: Norman Maila

Secretary: Veronica Mabilu

Deputy secretary: Phanuel Manganyi

Sector Four

Chairperson: Nelly Maseki

Deputy chairperson: Karel Monyapeo

Secretary: Elvis Maseko

Deputy secretary: Toppy Matseke

The subforum members are hoping to make an incremental impact from where their predecessors left off. Police spokesperson, Captain Allie Kodisang said this involves working as patrollers alongside police officers on anti-crime operations and proactive crime awareness campaigns through school visits and encouraging public and police collaboration in reporting, apprehending and ensuring successful prosecutions through water tight evidence gathering.

Some of the patrollers said they were eager for the task they said will include tackling illegal shebeens, contact crime, in particular, assaults and domestic violence they said was rife between lovers, drunken rowdiness particularly on weekends and other organised crimes.

They also expressed readiness for their task after being trained in community safety, legal principles, high-risk security issues, intelligence gathering, search and seize limitations and on-road traffic regulations.
