Youth lands himself behind bars
ALEXANDRA – Alex youth with stolen goods jailed for three years.
An Alex youth, Tswarelo Skatang, was sentenced by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to three years behind bars for the possession of stolen items.
Alex police officers on a routine stop-and-search operation in Bramley stopped the suspect and found in his possession a range of items matching the ones reported stolen in a house robbery in the Melrose/Burnham area the same day. The items which included cellphones, cameras and a DVD player were later identified by the victim of the robbery as his.
The accused was only charged with possession of stolen items after he claimed to have received them from someone whose detailed identify he could not divulge.
