Suspect apprehended with large quantity of stolen food

ALEXANDRA – Suspect arrested after failing to account for food items, found on his person.

 

A suspect was arrested by the Alex police for the alleged business robbery where he stole foodstuff from a fish and chips outlet.

The incident occurred on 15th Avenue at 4am on 23 April.

Police spokesperson, Captain Allie Kodisang said the police on patrol informed the burgled business owner of the incident after arresting the suspect near the shop. The suspect, who couldn’t account for the items, was found in possession of 18 x 10kg bags of potatoes, 5kg pack of Russian sausages, 10kg Vienna sausages, 3kg polony and 5kg cheese. The value of the items was estimated at R2 000 excluding the cost of damage to the building. The suspect will appear in court soon after investigation is completed including how he carried the stuff from the shop.

Alex News does not have details as to how the suspect carried all the stolen goods.
