PICS: Buy a Wimpy wristband and go public in slippers
ALEXANDRA – Give to Wimpy's Reach for a Dream charity and help a needy soul.
In South Africa, Slipper Day is on the 12 May, a special time of the year when all South Africans and Wimpy restaurants join forces to support the incredible charity work done by Reach for a Dream.
Purchase a R10 wristband from any Wimpy outlet or Pick and Pay stores and rock up in slippers anywhere in aid of this charitable cause. This year, the restaurant chain is hoping to exceed the previous year’s overwhelming success. In a statement, restaurant chain brand manager, Ayanda Peppeta said the band can be redeemed for a famous Wimpy coffee at any of the 490-plus outlets nationwide giving one the right to rock in one’s slippers all day long in public.

“The day has been a fantastic and amazing initiative to be incredibly proud of and which is very close to Wimpy’s heart. It’s amazing to have the opportunity to help Reach for a Dream to make children’s wishes come true and Slipper Day has become a day for South Africans to come together to show their support for this worthy cause,” she added.
The initiative was launched in 1988 and has made dreams come true for children suffering from serious and often terminal illnesses. It has given them a gift of fun and adventure, which they are often denied, enabling them to enjoy the simple things, which others take for granted and the opportunity to explore the extraordinary, by going sky-diving or meeting their lifelong heroes.
