22 years for murder
ALEXANDRA – Marlboro murderer of Alex rival jailed for 22 years.
A man found guilty of premeditated murder was sentenced to 22 years of imprisonment by the Alex Magistrates’ Court.
Muziwenkosi Mncube (31) of Marlboro was found guilty on 14 August by Magistrate Renier Boshoff for the murder of Lungisa Mpatha at a tavern in August 2015.
Mncube, who seemingly had a grudge against Mpatha, and a work colleague drove to a tavern at the intersection of 4th and Florence Mophosho avenues at night and found Mpatha with Mncube’s ex-girl and mother of his child. The two men got into an argument and the accused fired several shots, fatally wounding Mpatha.
Afterwards, Mncube was said to have fired several shots in the air and toppled traders’ food stalls nearby before driving off.
The court also heard that Mncube had been stabbed by Mpatha in 2011 for unspecified reasons.
