Gogo given surprise birthday party
ALEXANDRA - A 65-year-old gogo is given a surprise birthday with a first ever party.
The new owners of Jazz Joint, Abdul Mogale and Khotso Mofolo, threw a surprise party for Bertha More, an Alexandra resident who turned 65 years old.
The party was held at the establishment with close friends and family in attendance. A surprised More said that it was unexpected, as that was the first time a party was thrown in her honour. “I am very happy and grateful about it, I did not understand why my cousin wanted me to come with her here (to Jazz Joint),” she said.
Mogale said it was Women’s Month, hence they felt a need to have a celebration for More. It was also one of the ways they felt they could give back to the community. Mofolo, who is involved in various community projects, agreed with Mogale and said, “Giving back to the community meant a lot to both of us, especially to me as an ex-convict who still owes the Alex community a great deal.”
