UPDATE: Leeuwkop escapee still on the run
ALEXANDRA – Thomas Marubini, who escaped from Leeuwkop Prison, has still not been found.
The search for an Alexandra man who escaped from the Leeuwkop prison is still on, correctional services spokesperson Ofentse Morwane said.
Thomas Marubini (23) was arrested in 2015 on a charge of robbery and was serving a seven-year sentence.
Morwane told Alex News that they were still looking for him. He added that an internal investigation has been launched to determine how Marubini had managed to escape. “The investigation is still underway and we are still looking into it,” he said.
Marubini was working at the prison’s piggery when he escaped.
