Crime soars in Alex

Alex police attended to 90 reports of priority and other crime and arrested 75 suspects for other crimes in the week ending 10 September.

According to police spokesperson captain Allie Kodisang the priority crimes were:

• 2 for murder
• 1 for rape
• 4 for hijacking
• 12 for theft of motor vehicle
• 5 for residential burglary
• 3 for business robbery
• 5 for robbery with a firearm.

Other crimes were:

• 1 for sexual assault
• 6 for assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm
• 24 for common assault
• 1 for robbery using other forms of weapon
• 1 for common robbery
• 4 for theft from motor vehicle
• 6 for malicious damage to property
• 13 for general theft
• 2 for fraud.

Arrests were:

• 1 for attempted murder
• 1 for sexual assault
• 11 for assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm
• 10 for common assault
• 1 for robbery aggravating
• 1 for common robbery
• 2 for shoplifting
• 1 for theft from motor vehicle
• 1 for general theft
• 2 for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle
• 2 for residential burglary
• 2 for fraud
• 1 for illegal possession of firearm
• 12 drug-related use or possession
• 20 for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
• 7 for malicious damage to property
