Sixty-nine suspects were arrested for various criminal offences including murder, attempted murder and rape and, seventy-six offences reported at the Alex Police Station for the week ending 24 September.

The offences according to police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang were:

Arrests

• 2 for murder
• 2 for attempted murder
• 4 for rape
• 9 for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
• 6 for common assault
• 3 for robbery aggravating
• 8 for malicious damage to property
• 5 for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle
• 2 for general theft
• 2 for shoplifting
• 25 for drug possession, use and trading
• 1 for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Reported crimes under investigation:

• 4 for rape
• 1 for attempted murder
• 2 for motor vehicle hijacking
• 6 for theft from motor vehicle
• 6 for residential burglary
• 1 for business robbery
• 6 for robbery using firearm
• 3 for robbery with other form of weapon
• 7 for common robbery
• 10 for assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm
• 11 for common assault
• 6 for malicious damage to property
• 1 for arson
• 1 for theft from motor vehicle
• 8 for general theft
• 3 for fraud.
