Fiddler on the roof falls through it, now behind bars
ALEX – Suspect falls through shop roof armed with toy gun.
A suspect (19) who had just arrived in Alex from Bushbuckridge is now in jail for trespassing at the Pick n Pay in Pan Africa Mall.
In the hearing on 4 October before Magistrate Renier Boshoff at Alexandra Magistrates’ Court, the accused, who fell through the roof of the shop, was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment after admitting guilt to the offence.

Security guards patrolling at midnight on 29 September were alerted of movement on the roof. They went to check and were told by night workers that something had fallen in through the roof.
After checking and finding a hole in the roof, they went into the shop and heard a scream from a worker who they saw running with someone in pursuit and holding an object in one hand.
The guards ordered the pair to stop and the accused, who was the pursuer, was holding a toy gun.

They restrained him and found that the gun was a toy which he claimed to have picked up in the shop after falling through the roof.
The accused had fallen in near the liquor section and was not injured.Details: 10111.
