CR17 pips NDZ in Alex
ALEXANDRA – Alex boosts Ramaphosa's presidential campaign.
Deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa’s candidacy for the African National Congress party presidential position made a clean sweep in Alex’s 10 branches.
The township nurtured many party, national, political and other sector leaders. Several members of the youth league said the branches nominated Ramaphosa together with the following as his prospective executive colleagues:
Deputy president: Zweli Mkhize
- Chairperson: Gwede Mantashe
- Secretary general: Senzo Mchunu
- Deputy secretary general: Lindiwe Sisulu or Vuyiswa Tulelo
- Treasurer: Paul Mashatile.
In the article, Increase in Youth leadership, published in Alex News on 14 September, league member Keith Maphutha said they would choose bold leaders who would:
- Restore public trust in the party
- Ensure policy certainty on radical but inclusive macro economic transformation
- Stop corruption and scandals in state and private sectors and illicit internal and external financial transactions crippling the country
- Stimulate de-racialised economic control
- Create long-term employment
- Enhance self-sufficiency
- Reduce negative aspects of the global economy from crippling the country
- Create an afro-economic trade model to simulate continental economies and stability to curb economic migration
- Build social cohesion in the still, deeply divided country
- The infusion of the youth in leadership positions.
