JUST IN: Maimane Phiri robbed at gunpoint
ALEXANDRA - Legendary soccer player, Maimane Alfred Phiri was robbed of his car and soccer equipment at his shisanyama restaurant on Monday morning.

It has been a traumatic day for former Alexandra United and Moroka Swallows midfielder, Maimane Phiri, after he was robbed of his car and other valuables at his shisanyama restaurant on Monday morning.
Alex News can confirm that his E200 Mercedes Benz was found abandoned in Kew just hours after the robbery.
“Sadly, the money and soccer boots that were in the car were taken, but my cellphone was left in the car,” Phiri said.
He used the tracking software that came with his cellphone to track the location of it.
In a telephonic interview with Alex News, Phiri said he was busy talking to police who were taking fingerprints on his car.

Alexandra’s legendary soccer player, Maimane Alfred Phiri was robbed at gunpoint at his shisanyama restaurant on the morning of 11 December.
“We had just opened the shop just after 9am when two men came in and demanded our belongings,” he said. “They took my car keys and alcohol from the store before fleeing the scene in my car.”
The criminals managed to get away with Phiri’s white Mercedes Benz E200, a cellphone, alcohol from the restaurant and soccer equipment.
Nobody was harmed during the ordeal.
Phiri pleaded to the public to contact their nearest police station if they saw his car anywhere.
