One suspect arrested for hijacked car in Alex
ALEXANDRA – Metro police and security company recover a hijacked vehicle.
One suspect was arrested, while two suspects got away, after 7 Arrows security company chased a hijacked VW Golf 7 on Vincent Tshabalala Road on 11 December.
Wayne Minaar, spokesperson for Metro police, said the security officers spotted a suspicious-looking VW Golf 7 and immediately called for back-up.
“When they arrived, they tried to approach the vehicle and the driver tried to get away, but stopped when he drove into a stationary vehicle,” Minnaar said.
The car is believed to belong to a woman and was hijacked in Glenhazel.
Two firearms were also recovered from the vehicle.
The suspect was taken to Alexandra Police Station, where he remains in custody.
At the time of going to press, spokesperson for Alexandra Police Station, Captain Allie Kodisang could not provide comment.
