The main focus was to clean 19th Avenue, which is between Roosevelt and Selbourne Street.
In addition to the cleaning, residents they requested a rubble removal truck from Pikitup to collect the rubbish at each street that had piled up from the previous week. The truck had no workers on board and the residents did the loading themselves.

Cllr Shadrack Mkhonto, of ward 105 and 116 said, “I would like to thank the residents of 19th Avenue for their support and co-operation. They worked together as a team to ensure that our community is kept clean.”
Mkhonto appealed to the rest of the community of Alex to come on board, “cleaning the place we live in is not the responsibility of one person. We can do more to effect change if we work together,” he concluded.
