Alex’s Setheo United given a hefty fine and banned for 12 months
ALEXANDRA - Setheo United is expelled from the Alex Northrand LFA for a period of 12 months.
Setheo United Football Club has been slapped with a hefty fine for their involvement in a fracas that erupted at the Alexandra Stadium during the Year-End Community Games last year.
The club failed to appear before a disciplinary committee of the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association claiming that they got the dates mixed up. They were found guilty in absentia and fined R10 000, 50 per cent of which is payable within 30 days from the date of judgment, while the rest is payable within three months.

In addition to the fine, the club has been banned from using the facilities and grounds in Alex and soccer fields under the jurisdiction of the association for 12 months. They were further expelled from the association and banned from all football activities under the jurisdiction of the mother body for 12 months.
The three Thoka brothers who are associated with the club were also banned from all things football within the association’s authority for a period of 12 months.
The team skipper on the day of the fracas during the match against Gauteng FC, Hope Makwela and his vice-captain, Sanele Dube were also slapped with a 12-month ban. In terms of the ban, they cannot play football within the jurisdiction of the association.
The association’s secretary general Mafika Morajane said the club was offered the opportunity to appeal all the bans.

Morajane said these rulings were being withheld until an appeal was heard and a decision had been made.
“I am saying this so that people must not be confused when they see Setheo again being fixtured in our tournaments or games of the SAB League, as the appeal, once lodged nullifies the rulings until such time that a verdict of the appeal board is passed.”
