Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang said she was walking home on 13th Avenue with a schoolmate after a class tutorial when the suspect allegedly grabbed her hand. When she objected, the suspect allegedly told her he wanted to sleep with her as she was beautiful. Despite her protestation, the suspect dragged her into a room while she screamed. She claimed a suspect’s neighbour opened his curtains but didn’t come to her rescue.
The suspect allegedly locked the door, took off his clothes, forcibly undressed her and raped her with a condom, even when she told him that she was in her monthly period. When she asked to be let out, he allegedly assaulted her but finally let her leave after about 40 minutes. The victim went to the mate’s home and she accompanied her to the police to make a report.
The second incident occurred at 8pm and was committed by a known suspect at the girl’s (18th Avenue) home. A sibling informed the mother who came home from work that she had found the victim with the suspect seated on a bed without shoes. When she asked the suspect about his presence, he allegedly told the sibling that they were talking about the business of selling dagga at school. The mother went to the suspect’s home, confronted him on the matter and he allegedly confirmed being in the house with the victim and repeated the dagga claim. The mother returned home and questioned the girl who is said to have cried but later confirmed the rape in writing, claiming that the suspect threatened to cut off her finger when she screamed from pain.

The third rape was of a woman from River Park who was allegedly raped at about 8pm on 9 February by her ex-boyfriend at his 18 th Avenue home. The suspect allegedly went to her place and asked her to accompany him with the baby to his place. When she refused, he allegedly threatened to kill her adding that after all her mother hated him. She complied and on arrival put the baby on a bed. He undressed and forced her to do the same before raping her with a condom. When she asked to leave, he told her to do so without the child but she refused and left with her baby to report the incident at the Alex Police Station.
Kodisang could not confirm if any arrests were made at the time of reporting.
