Zuma ignores Alex
ALEXANDRA – Zuma's Alex meeting flops.
Members of the media, a few residents who popped in and out, and groupings of former employees of the council’s recently canned Public Works Programme were left guessing following a no-show by former President Jacob Zuma at San Kopano Community Centre on 23 February.

The visit, which had been advertised on posters and apparently also on radio, was scheduled to start at 11am. It was organised by a coalition of civil society organisations as a dialogue between Zuma and the organisations and residents.
A few members of Black First Land First, Transform SA milled around and only went into the hall to arrange chairs way after the scheduled commencement time. They remained expectant until 2pm when Zuma still hadn’t pitched – and never did.

Tsolo Sefike of Transform SA said it was a missed opportunity to hear about major transformation and other pertinent local and national development issued by the former president. She said the hall had been booked two weeks in advance and claimed that the engagement was sabotaged. “We are told people were advised by some leaders not to attend and that there would have been disruptions,” Sefike said, adding that the dialogue will be rescheduled.
