Fingerprints help to nab robber
ALEXANDRA – Fingerprint evidence and his own admission put him at the scene of all three housebreaking and theft incidents.
A man’s fingerprints exposed his involvement in two previous house robberies after he was nabbed for housebreaking at a Rivonia home in January this year.
Michael Ramotswa (28) was sentenced by magistrate Renier Boshoff at Alex Magistrates’ Court to eight years for each of the three offences which were ordered to run concurrently.
Ramotswa was found by the police in a veld after a tip-off and was arrested after a scuffle in which he bit an officer on his finger.
Fingerprint evidence and his own admission put him at the scene of all three housebreaking and theft incidents. Two cameras,an iPad, iMac, keypad and two wrist watches were stolen at the Rivonia home, and in the other two incidents a laptop and two monitors were stolen in March last year and, a camera, laptop, wristwatch, cellphones and R400 in cash were stolen in April last year. Nothing was recovered in all instances.
