Dumper pleads guilty and is fined
ALEXANDRA – Illegal dumper fined R300.
A man who was arrested while trying to dump rubble in an open space along Old Pretoria Road was fined R300 or three months’ imprisonment by the Alex Magistrates’ Court.
This as the city council struggles with controlling illegal dumping by truck operators. Doinizio Langa (24) was arrested on 29 January and was denied bail until his court appearance on 15 March.
Metro police officers intercepted him mid-morning as he was about to offload the rubble. When told that he was violating the law, he told them that he was struggling to find a dumping site and tried to bribe them with R300. He was arrested and the truck with its contents was impounded. Magistrate Renier Boshoff imposed the fine after he pleaded guilty to attempted dumping.
