Alex police attend to 85 cases in a week
ALEXANDRA – Three murdered, one raped in week ending 25 March.
Alex Police Station attended to three murder and 12 common assault cases among the 85 reported cases in the week ending 25 March.
Police spokesperson Captain Stephen Malatji said the case statistics for priority crimes were:
- 3 for murder
- 1 for attempted murder
- 1 for rape
- 4 for business robbery
- 6 for robbery using a firearm
- 1 for robbery with another form of weapon
- 4 for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
- 12 for common assault
- 2 for motor vehicle hijacking.
Other crimes were:
- 3 for house burglaries
- 1 for motor vehicle theft
- 5 for theft from a motor vehicle
- 4 for shoplifting
- 3 for commercial crimes – forgery and fraud
- 27 drug-related offences
- 7 for driving under the influence of alcohol
- 1 for possession of suspected stolen propperty.
