Gunners maintain unbeaten streak
ALEXANDRA - Gunners FC continue their unbeaten streak in the ANLFA Promotional League.
Table-topping Gunners FC kept their unbeaten record intact in the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association Promotional League when they clobbered Boss United 4–1 at the Number 3 Square Grounds.
Gunners opened their account in the 14th minute when Nkosinathi Hlongwane pounced on the ball which had been fumbled by United’s keeper and slotted it into the back of the net.

A foul on the edge of the box by United resulted in a masterpiece of a free kick by Peter Nkosi which left United’s keeper bemused, and 2–0 to the Gunners.

Gunners third goal also came in the first half from the boot of Siphamandla Maranjwane.
The game was an ill-tempered affair with some players lucky not to be sent off for an early shower for rough play and hurling abuse at the referee.

The second half saw United’s Billy Buthelezi pull one back which spurred coach Sibusiso Mnyandu’s men to believe they could win the match. They mounted raid after raid on the Gunners goal but were either thwarted by the alert defence or the astute keeper.

However, the final nail in the coffin of United was hammered in by Hlongwane when he dribbled past the keeper and grabbing his brace.
Gunners still top the log with 16 points from six games, with five wins and a draw, as they chase promotion from the 14-team league to the South African Football Association Promotional League that is a precursor to the popular SAB League.

Mnyandu remained positive, saying the league was far from over. “We can still bounce back and win the league if we can apply our minds to the business of the day and properly execute the tasks at hand.”
United is languishing third from the bottom of the log and has only collected four points from six games, with one win, one draw and four losses.
