Bail denied for safe robbers
ALEXANDRA – Kyalami club safe robbers remanded in custody.
The Alex Magistrates’ Court is hearing a case involving more than 10 armed suspects who blew up a safe and stole money from it and robbed patrons at a social club at Kyalami Business Park on 12 March.

The incident is said to have lasted for more than an hour and surprisingly, no major injuries were reported..
Eight of the suspects were arrested and were denied bail at a hearing before Magistrate Renier Boshoff assisted by Lufuno Maphiri on 17 May, pending further investigations by the police’s ATM bombing unit.
The gang is said to have staked out the club for some time. Patrons were robbed of undisclosed amounts of money, cell phones and other belongings and the perpetrators threatened to shoot them if they disobeyed instructions.

They left the premises after the robbery but retreated back into the club when security guards alerted to the robbery arrived and a shootout ensued. The eight were nabbed while the others escaped. Items which may have been recovered from the robbers were not specified.
