Alexandra to honour a selfless hero

ALEXANDRA– Uniting Reformed Church to walk for Dr Sam Buti in September

The Uniting Reformed Church will on 15 September host the third annual Reverend Dr Sam Buti Fun Walk.

According to Reverend Nicholas Mashiane, it is aimed at celebrating the legacy of the late Sam Buti and encourages people to live healthy by exercising.

“We are all ready, revved up and raring to hit the streets in memory of a legend. The benefits of healthy living can’t be over-emphasised and we urge the community to join us as well as our friends from outside the township for a day of fun as we enjoy this historic place we call home,” Mashiane said.

“We call upon all community members to come and join us as we honour this selfless hero.”

The fun walk will start at 7am at the church located on the corner of Reverend Sam Buti Street and 5th Avenue and will finish at Altrec Sports Ground where walkers will enjoy some entertainment activities planned for the day.

Tickets cost R50 for adults and R20 for children under the age of 12 years and are available at the church.
