Jefferson Tshabalala’s theatre play Kiri Goes Kasi portrays masters of township language through translating English into Kasi Lingo (township language). The play challenges audiences to not only be spectators of the show but also participate in the play to show their knowledge when it comes to Kasi Lingo.

Tshabalala, a founder of Kiri Pink Nob Production Company, said he has been travelling with his crew to perform in different townships across the country to showcase Kiri Goes Kasi which create a different theatre that includes township culture.

“We created this theme Kiri Goes Kasi for the township market in 2016. We’ve performed it in different townships theatres in Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, and Johannesburg. This is because townships are where the majority of our audience live, so it is imperative that we bring this theatre show to their circuit,” said Tshabalala.
