City wants informal mechanics for training

ALEXANDRA – Council invites informal vehicle repairers for training.

The Joburg City Council invites businesses in the informal automotive sector in Alex and Marlboro to a training programme.

The training under an incubation programme of the Department of Economic Development in partnership with private sector partners will empower and formalise them as SMMEs.

Eligible applicants should have five years of specialising in automotive and electrical repairs including, vehicle servicing, general repairs, panel beating, tyre fitment and wheel alignment, component and spares shop operation.
They should be:

  • Self-driven and dedicated to entrepreneurship
  • Willing to have a performance agreement with the City to enable it to track empowerment progress for sustainability purposes.
  • Possess a valid South African identity document.

Interested operators should apply before 15 October to Alexandra-MalboroAutomotiveHub@joburg.org.za or hand applications to Region E offices at 137 Daisy Street, Sandton.
