JOBURG – Uzalo makes TV history with 10.2 million viewers.
Local telenovela, Uzalo has made South African TV history. The program, aired on SABC 1, has broken all records in the history of television viewing in South Africa, by reaching an impressive 10.2 million viewers – making it the most watched television programme in the country so far.
In a statement, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) said it was delighted with the performance of programme.
“The partnership with Stained Glass Productions is one that keeps exceeding all expectations. We are confident that the programme is in line with our strategy of growing audiences, and meeting the needs and expectations of the South African public, by delivering on our public service mandate,” said the Group Executive for Television, Nomsa Philiso.
The public broadcaster said it was committed to telling local stories and delivering educative, entertaining and informative content.
