Police arrest a male suspect after a woman was knocked and killed by a car
ALEXANDRA – The driver was charged with culpable homicide.
A 23-year-old woman died after being knocked down by a car on Vincent Tshabalala Road at about 10am 19 November.
According to an eyewitness who preferred to remain anonymous, two women were walking on the pavement towards Alex Mall when a driver of a maroon car who was seemingly drunk, lost control of the car and careered into the woman. She was declared dead by paramedics at the scene.
Alexandra police spokesperson Stephen Malatjie confirmed to Alex News that the police arrested the driver and he was charged with culpable homicide. “We have arrested a suspect after a 23-year-old woman was knocked down by a car on Vincent Tshabalala Road and was due to appear in court in 48 hours,” he said.
“The male suspect was charged with culpable homicide.”
