PICS: Parents give Kgololo a thumbs up

ALEXANDRA – Kgololo Academy's 2019 grade ones already at WITS door.

It’s a marvel to watch the confidence in children at Kgololo Academy on 2nd Avenue whose eyes are already set on WITS University.

Still 13 years away, they are being properly groomed for the journey through an injection of unparalleled confidence to enable them to withstand all learning huddle as they transition through their grades. Neat, well-mannered and seemingly aware of their chosen future professions, the 2018 pre-school class took this step at their graduation to Grade 1 next year when they start their ‘real big’ school endeavour. This at a school whose objective is to prepare them for varsity and professions which will make their parents and the community proud of the private school which is the brainchild of African-American Waahida Tolbert-Mbatha with her crop of youthful and energetic teachers.

The group graduated to ululation from their parents and commendations from their teacher for the job well done albeit after tough challenges common with shepherding children world over.

Teacher Lerato Machaba lauded the parents for being there when the school needed them the most and urged them to again join in their children’s journey into and through Grade 1 en route to varsity. “We overcame nervousness, cried and almost tore our hair to the challenges as peers, as we developed into a strong and positive team.

“The reward will be our priceless memory of your children. We expect you to be there for them and help them keep their hopes and dreams within reach,” Machaba said.

Thompson said the children are fearless and exciting, “We will see what the future holds for them.

“Parents’ support will be critical in helping them reach their dreams.”

Teacher Nelisiwe Mhlongo thanked the parents for entrusting their children to the school. “It’s awesome seeing them graduate in your presence, carry on being part of the school.”

One of the school’s four ‘parents of the year’ winners, Cindy Mabizela, said it was every parent’s dream, joy and pride to see children achieve well in school. “We thank the teachers for setting a strong foundation for our children’s definite entry as Witsies of 2031,” Mabizela said.
