MUST READ: Alex’s 2018 matric learners share their success stories

ALEXANDRA – Top Realogile achiever urges for perseverance.

Despite their social and economic challenges, many of Alex’s 2018 matric learners excelled in their educational endeavour.

One of them, Sibusiso Hlongwane of Realogile Secondary School who achieved four distinctions in life orientation, geography, life sciences and physical sciences, is destined for the University of Pretoria.

“I will be studying electrical engineering and electronics,” Sibusiso said, disappointed with the 75 per cent he earned in mathematics.

He urged society to desist from labelling children as disinterested in education.

“We studied hard, sacrificed all the free time through night and weekend study and were supported and motivated by the teachers. I also fulfilled a promised to make my parents proud.”

Sibusiso urged those who didn’t do well not to despair. “It’s not the end of the world, you can still upgrade your marks.”

He encouraged them saying there were lots of opportunities awaiting them. “Consider subjects you are good at and aligned to careers of your choice and interest.”

His mates who also attained distinctions, expressed happiness for the overall improvement in the school’s results.

“We uplifted the school’s position to the top three and hope our successors improve on our results,” said Jackson Raphalalani.
