Theft backfires for employee

ALEXANDRA – A fake R216k claim did not end well for an employee.

A man is appearing at the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for alleged theft from his employers, a Woodmead-based financial services company.

The incident occurred in September last year and the accused is out on bail. He allegedly emailed a fake claim invoice for R216 000 without an invoice to the finance department while pretending to be the company’s CEO. The payment was then processed into the accused’s account. The offence was discovered when the actual CEO queried the payment which was traced to the accused’s bank account leading to his arrest.
