The Head of Transport’s  Planning Department has been placed on immediate suspension from his position according to a statement released by MMC for Transport, councillor Nonhlanhla Makhuba.

According to a statement released by the City of Joburg, the reasons for placing the Head of Department for Planning on immediate suspension is to allow for further investigations to be conducted in order to give more insight into the allegations in their entirety.

“The position of the City has been clear: We will not tolerate any action taken by any official, who is entrusted with important responsibility that also carries significant authority, to give disservice to our residents and fail to perform the duties assigned in line with the by-laws and policies of the City, and instead, demonstrate gross dereliction of duty,” read the statement.
