Temporary reprieve for four hawks members
ALEXANDRA – Extorting Hawks members granted R5 000 bail each.
Four members of the Hawks were each granted R5 000 bail in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court pending further investigation on charges of corruption and defeating the ends of justice.
The four who were transferred from the Randburg Magistrates’ Court were arrested by the agency’s Serious Corruption Investigation and Crime Intelligence Unit.
This after they allegedly intimidated and extorted R100 000 from a Midrand-based foreign national who they accused of operating illegally and threatened to shut his business down.
