Three years for TV theft

An Alex man, Simphiwe Nthai has been sentenced to three years’ imprisonment at the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court after he admitted to housebreaking and theft.

The 21-year-old was apprehended by residents who moored him before handing him over to the police. He was caught at 11.30am on 28 March carrying a television set wrapped in a blanket which he had stolen from an Ext 10 home. He went into the house through an open bathroom window in the absence of the homeowner and broke the front door to exit.
