Victim gets Iphone back from nabbed robber
ALEXANDRA – Cops' reaction nets motorist's robber hiding in bushes.
A man who was charged for robbery and illegal gun possession was denied bail and will reappear in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on 23 May.
Joseph Nyathi (25) was arrested minutes after he robbed a motorist in mid-morning traffic on 30 April this year at the Rivonia intersection onto the N1 freeway. He had approached the vehicle wielding a gun and forced the victim to open one of the vehicle’s windows.
He grabbed an iPhone and charger from the vehicle and fled into a nearby thicket. The victim noticed a police patrol vehicle nearby and reported the incident. The officers searched the area and found the accused with the cell phone which was returned to the victim. The man was arrested.
