Deadly robbed gun loaned for R1 000 loan

ALEXANDRA – Brothers on murder, robbery and gun possession charges.

Two brothers charged with murder, robbery and illegal possession of a gun and ammunition were remanded in custody by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court.

This pending further investigation of the incident which occurred early morning on 4 November after a drinking spree at Nobuhle hostel.

The accused, the deceased and two others, including a woman who is a girlfriend to one of them, left the drinking spot to go sleep. One of them walked in front with the woman and the other three, including the deceased, following from behind. The woman alleged that she heard gunshots from behind and fled the scene. In the process she heard the brothers telling the other man not to tell anyone what he had seen. Later, she heard more gun shots and the accused came running to her and she gave them money they asked for, for taxi transport to Joburg CBD.

Later she heard that one of the other two men had died from gunshots and also that a bystander had been injured. The accused were traced and arrested two days later in Berea. Investigators recovered the gun, said to have been registered to the deceased, from someone in Verulum, KwaZulu-Natal. It had allegedly been traded off for a repayable loan of R1 000.
