Armsta employee dies on his way to the hospital after being shot
ALEXANDRA– Malatjie said a docket of attempted murder was opened while the suspect was still at large.
The South African Police Service have launched a manhunt after a man was killed between 2nd Street and Watt Avenue in Alexandra on 24 May.
According to Alexandra Police Station spokesperson Stephen Malatjie, the chief patroller of Alexandra Randburg, Midrand and Sandton Taxi Association (Armsta) Bethuel Hlongwane died on his way to Masakhane Clinic after he was shot and killed while on duty next to Pan Africa Mall by an unknown suspect. He said the deceased sustained bullets wounds on the back of his head.
Malatjie said a docket of murder was opened by the police while the suspect was still at large.
Armsta Public Relations Officer Mothlaanelo Tsebe said they were hoping that the police will do their duty to get the perpetrators and bring them to book. He said Hlongwane will be laid to rest on 1 June in his hometown Giyani, Limpopo Province.
