Standard Bank has started closing close to 100 branches nationwide – here is a list of branches that will close near you
JOBURG – Some branches in Johannesburg have already closed and some Standard Bank customers have aired their frustrations on Twitter.
Standard Bank announced in March that they will be closing close to 100 branches and some branches have already shut their doors.
The company said in a statement, “Standard Bank is realigning its retail and business banking delivery model to the changing needs of customers amid rapid adoption of digital banking products and services.”
According to the company, the shift of their customers to a more digital user base means their clients are using branches less and less. “A decision has also been taken to close 91 branches, with the vast majority of these closing by June 2019. These changes will impact approximately 1 200 jobs.”
Branches closed and set to close in the area are:
- Benmore Gardens service centre
- Bryanston service centre
- Chilli Lane service centre
- Cosmo branch
- Hyde Park branch
- Melrose Arch branch
- Newtown Junction service centre
- Randburg branch
- Randridge Mall service centre
- Rivonia branch
- Sandton (Alice Lane) branch.

However, some of their customers are unhappy with the decisions the bank has taken, even complaining about the online services:
