Sorry son, but too late
ALEXANDRA – Regretful son, mom's pity fail to get court sympathy.
The Alex Magistrates’ Court sentenced a contrite young man to six months’ imprisonment for the unauthorised use of his mother’s motor vehicle.
The sentence on Kabelo Malete was ordered to run concurrently with six months for malicious damage to property after he, seemingly in a fit of rage, broke the house windows. This before he grabbed the keys of the vehicle, a Toyota Avanza, from the mother who is disabled and made off in the vehicle without her consent from their 16th Avenue home. The incident occurred at night on 5 May.
The matter was reported at the Alexandra Police Station and the vehicle was traced, found and the accused was arrested. The mother’s attempt to rescind the case before sentencing was disregarded by the court.
