Norwood Youngstars Academy launches players’ scout mission
NORWOOD – The academy wants to train players for leadership positions through continuous development and mentoring programmes.
Norwood Young Stars Academy is inviting soccer players to their trials on 20 July at Norwood Primary School.
The club is on the scout for girls and boys between the ages of 10 and 21 to boost their squad.
The academy plays in the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association and according to the management of the club, they are doing well in the league.
The club’s president, Venitta Masisi, said their aim was to provide a platform for young local players to advance their soccer careers.
“After discovering how difficult it is for talented soccer players around the whole of Africa to make it to professional [soccer], we then decided to open an academy that will enable them to showcase their talent and give them a platform worldwide to reach their full potential,” Masisi added.
“Our vision is to create a unique soccer academy that will ultimately be at the forefront ahead of its competitors and to be able to produce world- class players.”
The mission of the academy was to work hand-in-hand with clubs around the world to make sure that every ambitious soccer player received an opportunity to trial with them, she added.
“We are looking for committed, skilled and unskilled soccer players who are willing to explore different opportunities and work hand-in-hand with the team’s technical staff towards achieving the team’s goals.”
Interested players are requested to bring copies of their identity documents or birth certificates and their soccer kit to the trials which will start at 1pm.
Masisi said children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by their parents or guardians.
