Police in Alexandra open a docket of murder while perpetrators are at large
ALEXANDRA – It is alleged that robbers who were armed with guns had a disagreement with the deceased.
A docket of murder has been opened while the suspects were still at large after a 32-year-old man was shot and killed in the afternoon of 24 July on the corner of Hofmeyer Street and 7th Avenue, Alexandra.
It is alleged that three suspects, who were armed with guns pretended to be potential buyers, robbed and killed the shopkeeper in a local shop.
“It is alleged that the shopkeeper had some disagreement with the robbers and one of them shot him through the head and took away an undisclosed amount of money, cigarettes and airtime. The victim succumbed to the shot wounds and passed away,” said Captain Stephen Malatjie, the spokesperson at Alexandra Police Station.
He appealed to the public not to buy stolen goods and urged the community members with information to come forward and report to the police.
