Joint JMPD and SAPS net illegally armed men
ALEXANDRA – JMPD and SAPS nab armed crime suspects.
Johannesburg Metro Police Department’s special unit and Alexandra Police Station’s Crime Prevention Unit carried out a joint operation and arrested two men found in possession of unlicensed firearms.
Alex Police Station’s spokesperson Captain Stephen Malatji said a pistol, rifle, and ammunition were found on the men after their vehicle, a Toyota Avanza, was stopped at a roadblock.
The guns, which are suspected to have been used to commit crimes, were taken for ballistic testing. The men were denied bail by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court and are remanded in custody, pending the test results.
