ALEXANDRA – BMW strippers in shootout with cops, one nabbed
A suspected hijacker is in hospital receiving treatment under police guard following an exchange of gunfire with the police in Alex on 6 September.
Alex Police Station spokesperson Captain Stephen Malatji said the incident followed an alert sent out for a BMW that was reported hijacked. “A tracker signal led the police to a site where they found three suspects stripping the vehicle.
“When the police introduced themselves, the suspects shot at them resulting in a shootout in which the accused was wounded in the leg,” Malatji said adding that the accomplices escaped while the accused was taken to hospital.
