Satisfaction and accomplice jailed for robbery
ALEXANDRA – 15-year-sentences for Netcare employee robbers
Two Midrand and Tembisa men were sentenced by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to 15 years’ imprisonment for robbery and theft.
The pair, Satisfaction Ndlovu (32) and Buhle Buthelezi (21) who pleaded guilty to the offence of robbery aggravating, will instead, serve five year sentences each, after 10 years were suspended for five years. They were arrested shortly after the incident on 23 September at the Mall of Africa parking lot. They caught up with a female employee of a nearby hospital who was walking to the mall. One of them grabbed her by the neck and threatened to stab her with a knife before taking her handbag containing a cell phone and bank cards and money from her pocket.
A passing motorcyclist, alerted to the incident by the victim screaming, gave chase as the two ran towards the parking lot. Security guards at the mall were told of the incident and apprehended them as they lingered in the parking lot. The victim who was walking back to work was fetched and she identified the two before the police came and arrested them. The stolen items were recovered and returned to her.
