Dedicated teacher will be missed
ALEXANDRA – Zenzeleni robbed of a dedicated English teacher.
Zenzeleni Primary School and its education stakeholders are mourning the death of a teacher who passed on during the last school holidays.
Nomsa Dlamini died on 21 September at age 32, only days after delivering her second child. She was buried at her home in Sebokeng in the Vaal. “We are poorer without her. It will be hard to replace her,” Mavis Mahlatji, her English department head said.

She described the late Dlamini as a hard worker, committed and dedicated teacher who was generous, loved schoolchildren and gave her time to the Grade 4s and later, the Grade 5s that she taught at the time of her passing.
“They are the critical intermediate classes which needed someone of her calibre of patience. The children loved her and didn’t want her classes to end.” Mahlatji recalled instances when Dlamini also advised her on the virtues of patience and the need to provide erring learners with one-on-one supervision and support away from the prying eyes of others.

Mahlatji remembered how Dlamini radiated her love by ensuring child victims of a shack fire were provided replacement uniforms and other essential needs to mitigate their trauma. “It wasn’t a mistake that she choose the profession and she will be forever missed.”
School principal Thandi Gumede hailed Dlamini as having been an asset to the school from when she started in 2011 and notably as the school’s coordinator for the learner, teacher support programme. She is survived by two children, her fiance, parents and a sibling.
