Maimane Alex development Foundation will host a second annual fun walk
ALEXANDRA – The aim of the walk is to promote a healthy lifestyle but also for the residence of Alexandra to encourage members of the community to stand against all forms of violence.
After a successful 2019 prestigious Map Games soccer tournament, the Maimane Alex Development Foundation will 19 October host second annual 8 km fun walk against violence.
The chairperson of the foundation said the aim of the walk was to promote a healthy lifestyle while exposing local people to the different heritage sites in the township.
“On Saturday the 19th of October 2019 the Map Games colour fun walk will be taking place with the route starting at Rotary Grounds and ending at the same place the walk is a total of 8 kilometres, walkers will enjoy a scenic route through Alexandra passing heritage sites and places of historic importance. We are hoping to attract over 2 000 participants.
“The aim of the walk is to promote a healthy lifestyle but also for the residence of Alexandra to stand together against all forms of violence that has engulfed the township in the past couple of months, from acts of xenophobia, gender-based violence and taxi killings.”
