[VIDEO] Metro police officer attacked outside Pan Africa Mall
ALEXANDRA – The JMPD were conducting an illegal street trading bylaws and crime prevention operation in the Alexandra when the attacks happened.
A video showing a female Metro police officer being attacked by male assailants at Pan Africa Mall in Alexandra has gone viral.
The officer was enforcing the City’s bylaws for illegal street trading, according to Metro police spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar. “A female [Metro police] warden sustained bruises to her face and body and was taken to Milpark hospital where she was treated and discharged.”

“Metro police officers then regrouped and returned to Pan Africa Mall where they arrested two male suspects. The two were charged at Alexandra Police Station for assault and interfering with an officer in the execution of duty.”
Officers have been conducting illegal street trading bylaws and crime prevention operation in the area. Minnaar added it was important for the public to comply with the City’s bylaws.
