Prisoner’s woes compound

ALEXANDRA – Long arm of the law catches up with inmate.

The long arm of the law hauled from prison, a man wanted for housebreaking and theft at a Parkmore home in 2012.

Thokozane Mayizela, who was sentenced recently by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to five years’ imprisonment for the Parkmore incident, was found serving sentence for an unspecified offence. He was implicated in the offences through fingerprints found on items in the house. It is suspected he had accomplices when they broke into the house and stole about R180 000 worth of household items which included jewellery, a television set, laptops, camera, video camera clothing, shoes, handbags and a suitcase.

The victim left the house, garage doors, gate and windows secured at about 12.30 on 29 January 2012. A neighbour called him at about 2.30pm to alert him that the house and garage doors were open. He, in turn, alerted security guards who went to the scene before he arrived. They found the doors forcibly opened and the CCTV cameras tampered with. A bakkie suspected to have been the getaway vehicle was reportedly seen in the yard.

None of the items were recovered.
