A high risk of load-shedding still remains

JOBURG – Eskoms says the power system still remains vulnerable and constrained.

Eskom has said the power system still remains tight, after load-shedding ended earlier today (8 November) at 5am.

The power utility implemented Stage 2 load-shedding on the evening of 7 November from 10pm even though they previously stated that load-shedding was not planned for the day.  In a recent statement, the entity said the power system remains extremely constrained and vulnerable. “The overnight load-shedding assisted with partial recovery of our emergency resources to enable us to get through the morning.”

Eskom said their main objective is to not implement load-shedding during the day but due to the unplanned breakdowns that are above 10 500 MV and the need to replenish emergency services, the likelihood of load-shedding still remains high into the evening.

Their technical teams are working on returning units from planned and unplanned maintenance.
