Viral video gets woman charged for child abuse
ALEXANDRA – Helper provokes and beats 7-year-old child over fatness
A woman captured on social media video beating a seven-year-old girl was granted bail of R5 000 in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, 43-year-old domestic worker Nokulunga Dlamini, was charged with assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm.
The video which went viral shows her assaulting the child in the presence of others in the mid-afternoon of 20 August in a park in Kyalami Hills, Midrand. She met the group of children who were playing and, without provocation, allegedly told the victim that she was fat.
The accused was seemingly irked when the child retorted that she too was fat. She grabbed and smacked the child several times and hurled her to the ground. The child reported the incident to her mother and the accused was identified and arrested.
