NGO visits Ekukhanyisweni

ALEXANDRA - A literacy NGO visits Ekukhanyisweni Primary School to check on the progress of its literacy campaign.

A South African child literacy non-governmental organisation, help2read, with its newly appointed chief executive Manoj Chiba, visited the children of Ekukhanyisweni Primary School in Alexandra to check on the effectiveness of the programme which was implemented last year.

The school’s co-ordinating teacher of the help2read programme, Ouma Makuwa said; “I have noticed that the programme has helped the learners to improve and expand their vocabulary, become more confident and develop better language usage.”

And the help2read was established in 2005 to contribute to the improvement of education by calling on volunteers to assist schoolchildren to overcome the hurdles to literacy. The NGO is always looking for additional volunteers. Details: 012-752-9984 or info@help2read.org
